🐾 Who We Are

Hey there! We’re 5 Tails and Some Whiskers — I’m Charles, and my husband Erik is my partner in life, laughter, and way too many furry responsibilities.

Why the name?
Simple math: 4 dogs + 1 cat = 5 tails (and a few whiskers that run the household). Our fur babies are the heart, soul, and occasional chaos behind our entire brand. They’ve inspired many of the scents and names you’ll find in our soaps and candles — because let’s be honest, every one of them has a “signature scent” of their own (some better than others). 🐶🐱

I started out as a hobbyist crafter, making handmade soaps, candles, and knitted scarves for friends and family. Erik — a 20-year Navy veteran and professional encourager of all my “crazy ideas” — convinced me to share my creations with the world. He’s the anchor that keeps this ship steady (and the one who pretends not to notice how many new candle molds I buy). ⚓

Our pets aren’t just mascots — they’re lifesavers. Erik lives with PTSD, and every Veterans Day he’s allowed to rescue an animal from the local shelter for free. Those rescues have brought so much love and healing into our lives. As for me, after losing my sister suddenly and my mom after her long 15-year fight with cancer, these animals (and our amazing family) helped pull me through.

So yeah… that’s how we ended up with so many tails — and we wouldn’t give up a single one. If we ever got a farmhouse, we’d probably end up with 45 tails, a few hooves, some feathers, and maybe even a llama or two.

All of our products are made with love (and probably a little pet hair floating through the air). We use soy wax, shea butter, and coconut milk — no beeswax or goat’s milk, because if we ever get that farm, we’d rather hang out with the bees and goats than borrow their hard work. 🐝🐐
